Email Marketing & Open Rates

Today I was asked an interesting question in relation to open rates in Email Marketing. Their point was - it doesn't matter how many people open the email (open rates), all that matters is how many click on the links within your mail (click throughs). I know a lot of people would agree..

In one word why are open rates so important to Marketers - Answer: Branding. You need to get your brand in front of your audience...so the next time someone tells you not to worry about open rates, you know better.
